How it was made Mr Rabbit Adventure
Creative process:
When I found gamejam I spent days thinking about which game could draw my inspiration to create this project, so I come to mind a childhood game that I played a lot and that my family liked, Mr rabbit game was based on Kero Kero kero kero keroppi 2 from nes.
I replayed it to try to take the essence of the series again and turn it into a new game, but I saw that this game has much better graphics than the first games released on the NES, so I thought about the story and how it will be made. I first did the programming of the collisions and I had a lot of difficulty because it was the first time doing a platform game alone, I learned in progress, but doing it alone and thinking about different mechanics was more difficult, after the mechanics I was already thinking about the arts which was also another problem because I've been drawing since March only, I know how to make a body on paper, So the difficulty is greater.
After I designed everything and it was practically 80% programmed, I went to draw the level and thought "how am I going to draw the level now", in this process it took 3 days to create a level only, and my plans were to create 3 worlds with 3 phases in each 3 bosses, in the end I delivered 1 world and second incomplete with final boss, Maybe I thought more than the ability and time to do it all.
During the process I thought about making authorial music in an easy way, but I wasn't going to have time so I managed to find songs that would bring the same emotion that the game was going through, and I used Bfx program to make the fxs of the game where they were similar to the game I was inspired by.
At 2 o'clock in the morning with 6 hours left to finish the gamejam I finished the boss, and with another 30 minutes I inserted and fixed some errors and delivered, even knowing that there were some bugs and without lack of many external tests. But this was all worth it in the end, because the simplest that a game may seem it is not, every detail requires knowledge and logic to work right, I spent 1 whole day trying to solve my frog to jump and descend and in the end when I went to create the pause system I had to do all the logic because it wouldn't stop anymore.
The next project I hope I can create something with better traits and release it on Steam, see you in the next one...
